Thanks to the cooks!

Those cooks have been very busy! They are whipping up some special treats for Read Across America. Today, there was "one fish, two fish" birthday cake! Who knows what there will be tomorrow!

Day 1--Read Across America

The day began with Lisa Laird and her friends presenting an introduction of what the kids at school will be doing the next three days! They will be making puppets! Making a play and perhaps presenting it. Everything that they do will be with their own imaginations! They will take the toilet paper rolls, the pudding boxes, the scraps of materials, and buttons and come up with some fantastic creations. We can't wait to see them!

Lisa and her friends will be making a special appearance at the Hawarden Public Library on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. Make sure to come to this event!

THE REAL FUN STARTS MARCH 2

On March 2, the Hawarden Elementary will welcome artist-in-resident, Lisa Laird. Ms. Laird is an expert puppeteer and will be working with the students to create their own puppets. She will be with us for three days. It will be fun, exciting, and a new experience. We appreciate the support of the IOWA ARTS COUNCIL, PEOPLES BANK of HAWARDEN, and the HAWARDEN ARTS COUNCIL which has enabled the library and the school to bring this artist to our community. During this next week, we will telling you about all the fun things the kids are doing. Plus, we will be posting pictures.
